We are sorry for the delay and lack in blog updates concerning our farmers market.
Things have been hopping around here, and blogging has been on the back burner
for the past two months!
Our market has been a success so far this season, and we still have until mid October!
We all look forward to every Saturday and seeing regulars buy our produce
as well as meet new shoppers!
We still have some good vegetables growing, such as green beans, radishes, lettuce, beets, and carrots, but as far as sweet corn and tomatoes go, those did not do as well this year and are done for this year. The tomatoes were hit with all the rain we had in July, and although we were able to get a good amount off of the plants, they all are dead now and are not producing any more. Because of the lack of rain the last part of July into August, our corn never fully developed the whole ear, and were not good enough to sell.
As the weather cools down, our cool season crops will be back in full production. Our lettuce mix sells extremely well at Market each week and we have many new beds just about ready for picking. As you can see from the picture below, radishes are back! Our Easter Egg radishes are delicious sliced and eaten on our salad mix!!

Our carrots are also growing well. Leaving the tops on the carrots makes for a beautiful display. Carrots go "very" quickly each Saturday. (See the empty spot to the left of the beets? That is where the salad mix WAS. We sold out quickly this past Saturday. )
Be sure to come early for the best selection!!

Something fun that we have added the past couple of weeks to our produce stand is lovely cut flowers! We have been selling sunflowers, zinnias, and huge hydrangeas(not pictured)! Shoppers love buying them to place on their dinner table or just to enjoy!
We would love to grow more next season and have more varieties for shoppers to choose from!

Our pumpkin patch for this year looks good...plants were hit with the flood of rain we had in July, and so they are a little slower in growing from having to recover from the water,
but other than that, we definitely will have pumpkins!
We are all excited about pumpkin patch season being so close! We look forward to a good year at the Proverbial Pumpkin Patch!
We will be opening our patch and Country Gift and Bake Shop on Saturday, September 26th. We will be open daily Monday through Saturday 10am-8pm, and Sundays 1-5pm.
We also will have our Country Gift and Bake Shop open on Fridays and Saturdays through the month of November. Please check out the other pages of our website to see what we offer! We look forward to seeing you at our patch this year!
